The Friends of Rotherfield and Jarvis Brook Surgeries
The League is a Registered Charity and was founded in 1989, the main objectives being to foster and maintain the interest and support of the public in the surgeries and to provide medical and other equipment for the benefit of the patients.
To date The League has provided equipment to Rotherfield and The Brook in excess of £60,000.
These include:
- Adjustable examination couches
- ECG Machines
- Heart Monitors
- Diagnostic sets, comprising: Opthalmoscopes & Auroscopes
- Cryotherapy Unit, using Nitrous Oxide
- Electronic Weighing Scales
- Audiometers
- Autoclaves
- Microtympanometer Vitalograph Spirometer
- Syringe Drivers
- Cauteries
- Nebulisers
- Sigmoidoscopes
- Wheelchairs
- Cholesterol testing strips
- Dopplers
- Braun Thermoscans (Thermometers)
Much of this equipment allows diagnosis and treatment at the surgery, which might otherwise mean a trip to hospital.
A continuous supply of disposable nozzles, probes, batteries, etc are required by several of these items and most need to be calibrated and maintained on a regular basis. These costs alone now amount to £2000 per annum. In addition some of the older equipment needs to be replaced and updated.
