Rotherfield Walkers

The Rotherfield Walkers were formed in 1983 when the Parish Council launched a review of the 100 plus local designated rights of way spanning over 40 miles, which led to the formation of a footpaths group to walk the paths, to report any problems, and to help produce a local guide book. Thus the Rotherfield Walkers were born.

The Rotherfield Walkers Guide

The 2nd edition of the Rotherfield Walkers Guide has just been published (thanks to funding and support from the Countryside Agency and Wealden District Council), and is now available from local shops, price £2. This guide was first published 10 years ago and provides twelve fascinating walks, one for each month of the year.

They are tried and tested walks and cover the area surrounding Rotherfield which is within the High Weald of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. If you have not already done so buy a guide now and start to explore.

Membership

We welcome anyone to join our group, which is entirely free, with no formal membership requirements (just a love of the countryside).
There are no fees and no budgets - we chose not to affiliate ourselves with the Ramblers Association.
We meet every second Sunday of each month of the year, come rain or shine. The meeting points vary as do the routes taken. A copy of the Ordnance Survey 1:25000 Pathfinder maps 1248 (TQ43/53) and 1269 (TQ42/52) can prove useful (but are not obligatory). Each walk is a gentle circular 4 or 5 miles and suitable for all ages.
