If the weather’s fine, why not take stroll around the Millennium Green? It’s in the heart of the village, right next to the Kings Arms.
It provides a restful and enjoyable haven, and makes a very pleasant route for a short walk.

The Green consists of about 13 acres of meadow, woodland, old hedges and a wetland area. It was created to celebrate the year 2000 millennium, and is a wildlife habitat enjoyed by the people of Rotherfield and visitors to the area.
There is access for disabled visitors, comfortable wooden benches on which to relax, and a boardwalk to improve access across the wetland area.
To enhance the habitat and encourage wildlife, natural hedgerow species have been planted where there were gaps in hedges, to preserve the original field pattern. An apple orchard was planted and a pond created. Part of the area is grazed by cattle during the summer and a large number of bird nest boxes have been erected. Work on the hedgerows is continuing over the years to regenerate them to their original state.
